Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA Q800) is a versatile tool for characterizing the thermomechanical properties of polymeric materials.
There are several modes and clamps available. The most used is the tensile film clamp which can be used to characterize thin films in tensile mode.
The DMA at our department is often used for determining the glass transition (Tg) of materials, which the DMA can do effectively by running a temperature sweep. The temperature range for the DMA is -100 - 300 oC, enabled via an internal oven and an attached cooling system (ACS-3).
